Acknowledging Broadcasts - ERA Label Requirements

All recordings, or copies of recordings must be clearly and appropriately labelled.

Always label or mark up the cassette or jewel case plus the tape or disc itself with the four following items:

  • Date (when the recording was made)
  • Name of the broadcaster
  • Programme title
  • The wording 'This recording is to be used only for educational and non-commercial purposes under the terms of the ERA Licence'.

Recordings stored digitally on a server should include the above four items as a written opening credit or webpage which must be viewed or listened to before access to the recording is permitted.

ERA now produces suitable labels for video tapes for this purpose, which are available to licensees at cost. Labels for DVDs will be available shortly.

The labels cost £6.00 for 10 sheets (there are 14 labels per sheet). This includes postage and VAT.

Labels can be obtained by completing an order form and sending this together with payment by cheque to ERA.

Order forms can be obtained by contacting ERA by phone or by email. Alternatively ERA can provide you with a template for the labels for A4 laser printing. To order either a form or the template please email ERA at era@era.org.uk.
