Who we are

About us and our governance

ERA supports the education sector by making it easy for schools, colleges and universities to harness the power of audio-visual broadcast material for non-commercial educational purposes.

We do this through our simple, cost-effective licensing scheme. An ERA licence supports educational establishments accessing and using our members’ output from television and radio broadcasts for educational purposes. Teachers and lecturers can use licensed programmes and clips to bring the richness of ERA members’ works right into the classroom or lecture theatre.

Registered students and staff of a licensed school, college or university can also access ERA materials on and off the campus, over a secure network.

We also connect with other organisations to help make it easy for educational establishments to access clips and programmes from broadcast.

ERA is a not-for-profit organisation. We pay the licence fees we receive to our members, retaining only what we need to cover administration.
